Cheriyal Nakashi painting, rich in the local motifs particular to the Telangana. The art form has a history of more than 400 years and is closely associated with the storytelling tradition of the region. The art is believed to be brought to India by Mughal Emperors who brought Usta artists. It is closely related to the Rajasthani Nakashi Phad Paintings. Both the art forms believed to have same scroll painting origin.

Nakashi art usually contain bright hues with a predominance of red in the background. They are easy to relate to – as the themes and stories are familiar – drawn from the storehouse of ancient literary and folk traditions.
