Chou is a dance style originating in eastern India. The dance celebrates martial arts, acrobatics and athletics performed in festive themes of a folk dance with religious themes.

Chou mask is a traditional cultural heritage of Purulia in West Bengal, where the use of masks is its uniqueness. In Charida village, mask making is a family business with 115 families engaged in mask creation. Paper mache is used for the base while glass beads, zari, feathers, strips of coloured jute for hair are used for the decoration. Children are engaged in this creative process, and this is how the art is handed down from one generation to the next.
